Meditations and Running

My thoughts today surround my marathoner friend. He’s such a dynamic and brilliant presence in my life and in the lives of others. He’s a professor as he should be and a fabulous academic. I can’t imagine anyone as suited to teaching, writing and his craft as my marathoner friend.

As I run, I let my mind go where it will. I haven’t seen him in weeks but as I anticipate my 2,000-mile challenge this year, I can’t help but think of how many miles he ran over the years of running. He’s a remarkable person in that he’s older than me but running nevertheless well into his 60s. Did I also mention that he can be one of the funniest people around; seeing many issues in a very different slant than most of us. Just a character; creative and funny.

My other friend dips into my thoughts because I just want to spend some time with him. He’s always a joy for me to be around; hopeful, handsome and funny too. He’s a bit of a very bad boy which is quite attractive for this old lady’s spirit. He is wildly talented and makes me smile always. Quite naturally, another professor with an extreme gift of insight into this world. Yes, on this cold and rainy day, my heart is warmed by my actor director friend with renewed hope into the year. My trip out west coming to an end, I look forward to just having a drink and laughing with my friend.
