Being patient with my friend

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.”-1 Corinthians 13:4-5 (NIV)

I never dreamed that I would be capable of caring for another person at this point in my life. My new friend has been troubled by a personal matter that he has declined to share with me but I know something of how he deals with personal adversity. He is very private and I respect his privacy. Whatever he wants to share with me, I am happy to share. I respect my friend and what he may be going through.

I have prayed for patience and understanding in my encounters with him. I know that he is worth waiting for and a true gift to this world. I also know that time is an enemy in some matters but he will work things out and we can hope to have a bit of happiness. He’s gifted, creative, reflective and sees the world in a way that is truly astonishing. I thank God for bringing him into my life and I pray that he doesn’t leave. He’s worth the wait and the patience because all good comes at the right time.  Both of us deserve a chance at happiness.

I take all as I find them without agenda. All of the wonder that my very human, at times superhuman, friend is an amazing gift. I am very honored and blessed to have him in my life.
